Yesterday was another check in the box of steps on our IVF cycle's checklist, and I'm happy to have started Lupron despite the bruising and daily shots. ADG and I watched the instructional video on how to correctly administer the shot, and I injected myself without a hitch just before 9PM. This will now be a nightly routine for the next few weeks -- good times!
We're scheduled to officially be a part of the "July 2014" IVF cycle at Walter Reed, and will be on a "Tuesday Calendar" as our first Baseline appointment is on a Tuesday, setting the tone for the rest of the IVF cycle progression. The word "tentative" has been thrown around a lot lately... depending on how my body responds to the IVF medications will determine how closely we can stick to our current schedule that looks like this: At 8:56 AM today, I received a call from our IVF Program's Financial Coordinator to take payment on the IVF cycle that we'll soon be starting! On one hand, it was exciting that we're moving along in the military/infertility process at Walter Reed... all of the program intake steps are going off without a hitch (ignoring the additional bloodwork that I had to have done last week, and am still waiting on the results of) and we are mostly on track to do the IVF cycle in July (Monitoring, Injections, etc.). On the other hand... damn, that's a lot of money!! Great weekends pave the way for great weeks. Has some famous philosopher said that more profoundly in a more eloquent way? I"m not sure, but in any case, the sentiment is same! We had a great weekend and even spent the night with the dogs out on our boat to give ourselves an even greater change of pace. With some big changes (potential international moves, IVF to conceive our first child, and the end of a four year home renovation) coming to our life very soon, two consecutive days of relaxation and fun were much needed! One thing we're especially looking forward to this weekend is picking up our jib from a local sailmaker. About 2 months ago, we installed a roller furling on our Cal 25-MK 2 sailboat which will allow us to much more simply and easily cruise the Chesapeake Bay as we love to do. The sail we had needed to be outfitted with a UV cover to protect it from the elements when rolled around the forestay, and at the same time, trimmed to the custom size and shape we were looking for. |
